Dear Friends of the Lost Boys and Girls of the Sudan.
It’s exceptionally a great honor to join the donors, volunteers and friends, board of trustees, Board of Directors of the Lost Boys and Lost Girls National Nonprofit organization in perpetuating the amazing heroic journey of the lost boys and girls of the Sudan. To keep this unbelievable spirit and hope of the lost boys and lost girls, most of whom are orphaned by the genocide in Southern Sudan over the last two decades, we have the duties to ensure the welfare of the Lost Boys & Girls through targeted assistance programs that equip them for success in their lives in order for them to live happy and productive lives here in the American community, and to empower them to become a strong resource for the construction of the Sudan through relief and rehabilitation programs.
As the Organization First Executive Director, I am charged with primary goals of building the capacity of the organization from improving our current website to sponsoring projects. The urgent work of the Organization is to build a bridge between the lost boys and lost girls and the American community. This is tremendously important to all of us because the lost boys and lost girls are key to understanding, at a deep level, a human perspective of the massacre that has been happening in the Sudan. Current goals include and not limiting to stabilizing the Lost Boys and Lost Girls National Organization’s operation, strengthening programs and extending outreach to the lost boys’ community, which has grown to approximately 5,000 since 2000 across the states and cities of the US. Most of the lost boys work two jobs and go to schools. Their Hard work and self sacrifice is absolutely unbelievable. In spite of their difficult backgrounds, the lost boys and lost girls are remarkably optimistic, genuinely friendly and very willing to accept the American efforts to empower them. They are extremely focused on becoming successful members of the American Great melting pot society, and indeed, a handful of them have already become citizens of the United States of America. The second most moving aspect of my job is the generosity, active Support and involvement of so many caring members of the American community.
I am so thrilled, as one of the lost boys, to have been given this most rewarding opportunity to help these young men and women. We invite you to visit our website: www.lostboysandlostgirls.org
Thank you for your interest in the lost boys and girls of Sudan.
Deng Majok Chol.
Executive Director.
