VICTORY
I refused to be discouraged
To be sad, or to cry;
I refuse to be downhearted,
and here’s the reason why…
I have a God who’s mighty,
Who’s sovereign and supreme;
I have a God who loves me,
and I am on His team.
He is all wise and powerful,
Salvation is the game;
Though everything is changeable,
My God remains the same.
My God knows all that’s happening;
Beginning to the end,
His presence is my comfort,
He is my dearest friend.
When sickness comes to weaken me,
To bring my head down low,
I call upon my mighty God;
Into His arms I go.
When circumstances threaten
to rob me from my peace;
He draws me close unto His breast,
Where all my strivings cease.
And when my heart melts within me,
and weakness takes control;
He gathers me into His arms,
He soothes my heart and soul.
The great “I AM” is with me,
My life is in His hand,
God is my hope,
It’s in His strength I stand.
I refuse to be defeated,
My eyes are on my God;
He has promised to be with me,
as through this life I trod.
I’m looking past
all my circumstances,
To Heaven’s throne above;
My prayers have reached
the heart of God,
I’m resting in His love.
I give God thanks in everything,
My eyes are on His face;
The battle’s His, the victory is mine;
He’ll help me win the race

The Lost Boys’ Poem no comments
The lost boys
We saw new birds we hadn’t seen before.
We cried surprised delight and turned our faces up.
How pretty! How alight with speed their flight!
They killed our several cows
and dropped their death on chickens
which my father had.
Our village sighed.
One foot, one foot, the other foot, a foot,
a left foot naked as the blistered right.
It was the Journey.
We joined the journey of the thousand others,
one foot, one foot, the other foot, a foot,
across a Sudan made a ditch of throats,
to an unknown country – Kenya, it was -
where we lost more boys to the unknown leaves.
For we fed and we died on those few trees’ leaves.
If we lived we starved, if we ate we died.
One foot, one foot, the other foot, a foot,
a left foot fleshless as the skinstripped right.
Some fell to the left, some died to the right,
some of the young hanged the shred of their life
there in a branch with a wire -
but one foot, one foot, one foot further
and Ethiopia
a camp
is in sight.
Praise God! no comments
Praise the Lord!
Praise, O servants of the Lord,
Praise the name of the Lord!
Blessed be the name of the Lord
From this time forth and forevermore!
From the rising of the sun to its going down
The Lord’s name is to be praised.
The Lord is high above all nations,
His glory above the heavens.
Who is like the Lord our God,
Who dwells on high,
Who humbles Himself to behold
The things that are in the heavens and in the earth?
He raises the poor out of the dust,
And lifts the needy out of the ash heap,
That He may seat him with princes-
With the princes of His people.
He grants the barren woman a home,
Like a joyful mother of children.
Praise the Lord!
(Psalm 113)
